Metro 2033 is the first game to utilize all the key features in NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 400 series GPUs. From
PhysX to 3D Vision, tessellation to direct compute, Metro 2033 advances the state of the art in every
front. Kiev based 4A Games, the developers behind Metro 2033, was determined to make a multiplatform game
varyIng lighting model. The result is perfect smooth organic objects without the need for complex models
that over burden video memory. Metro 2033 uses DirectX 11’s compute shaders to calculate high quality
depth of field effects. Depth of field effects such as background blurring has been used in games for some
time. However, up until now, they have relied on simple pixel shader approximations.Metro 2033 uses
compute shaders to perform an accurate simulation of a camera lens, taking into account factors such as
focal point and aperture size. The result is softly blurred backgrounds with smooth, pleasing highlights.
Metro 2033 uses NVIDIA 3D Vision to add an extra level of depth to its brooding and claustrophobic
interiors. During key in-game cut scene sequences, out of screen effects are used on leaping monsters to
great effect. The player is never truly safe in the world of Metro 2033. With 3D Vision, this feeling is
developed to its fullest. With its innovative use of DirectX 11 tessellation, NVIDIA PhysX, and NVIDIA 3D
Vision, Metro 2033 shows that the PC remains unchallenged as the most advanced and immersive gaming
